Our second update to the game!

Hey there guys!

It's finally here, our second big update to the game!

It really took us a while to add all the new features we wanted to add, and we apologize for the delay, but we really wanted to fix several things that wouldn't be doable in the long run. We decided it was better to solve them right now than later, because the bigger the project got, the longer and more difficult it would have been to implement the changes.

But after months of hard work, we finally have managed to make a new release for the game!

Here's a changelog of the things we've added to the new version:

  • We've revamped the sprite system. Before we had a unique sprite for each character for each expression they had. We realized this would be impossible to maintain in the long run, so we decided to implement some scripts to allow us to manage sprites with a layer system, that way we can just call base expressions and dress them up as we need to.
  • Changes to the UI have been implemented. In order to step up our game a bit and differentiate us a bit more from other games, our artist implemented new UI elements to the game. Let us know what you think about them!
  • The love point system makes its debut. Being the first version of the love point system, we've added a simplified way to implement it. So making certain decisions in the game will affect a couple of choices in the newly introduced day in the game, leading to particular events with every character. We plan to expand this system in the future in order to add more depth to it.
  • New visual effects have been added. In order to spice up the game a bit, we've added some visual effects to the game. This is just the beginning and we plan to add more in the future.
  • Sound effects have been added as well! We made the decision to start using sound effects in the game, to make things a bit more involving for the player. We only started with a few right now, but we would love to hear your opinion about them so we add more in the future.
  • New locations as well as new music as part of the new update have been added. Please look forward to the new places the island has to offer!
  • New characters appear as well! Some of them will be recurring characters and we hope you like them as much as we do.

And we'll leave it at that. We don't want to go into spoiler territory, but the story advances a bit for all the characters and the reasons why they've come to such a place for vacation.

We would love to hear your opinions about the game and what you expect from it!

We also would like to remind you to start a new file with this new version. Several things have been added and touched for the first day, plus we added flags needed for future events!

As for other announcements, we've discussed as a team what we want to do going forward with the project. Like you guys know, all of us have a day job and we work on this project as a side project during our free time, hence why updates are a bit slow. We have discussed things like having a tip jar or something like that, just as a small incentive to work into the project. We'd like to know your opinion about this too! After all we're doing this project both for ourselves and for the people that play our game!

See you next time!

I love the artwork and the distinct personalities of the characters.  Can also tell there's hints of a plot twist in the future.  I would make one suggestion- have the writing concentrate less on technicalities of what the protagonist is going through at the hotel and more on personal discussions with the other characters.  With the writing detailing bracelets opening locker and buffet etiquette, I felt like there was a missed chance on asking Arty about himself.  Although maybe I'm just getting impatient on knowing the character.  Other readers might disagree.

That coffee cashier was cute, too bad he is a once off.  Same for the taxi driver (even if reoccurring), and the bellboy, and the guide... I also noticed some dialogue changes, really helped clear some misconceptions I had made up.  Still love the way we really get to know the MCs thoughts! Priceless!  Still would love for a full view of what the MC looks like, but that could still be coming.  *whistles* now that is a nice view! I'm sure the other two are similar!  I don't have any food allergies, but I avoid those as if I do, but don't deny me my SALMON!  That includes you Guide!  And that ending... excitement!
